This is the Year

In this 90-minute hands-on, action packed workshop led by José Joaquín García, participants use New York born Puerto Rican Martin Espada’s poem “Imagine the Angel of Bread” as a springboard to explore ways of using theater and performance as a vehicle for social justice. This poem pays homage to those underrepresented individuals who keep the wheels of this country well oiled yet remain invisible, serving as important components of our communities while the xenophobia agenda plays out in plain sight. Participants pledge that this is the year to put social change into action and leave with expressive tools for raising awareness
